Happy Friday night! I’ve been having so much fun with my Fig Tree Mystery Sampler blocks that I couldn’t wait to show you the blocks from month #2! Besides, my hubby has commandeered my sewing machine to work on his first Zelda Block and I have found myself with some unexpected computer time. 🙂
We had some beautiful sunny weather this afternoon so I kicked the boys out into the backyard to play, and brought along my blocks and some pins for a little impromptu photo shoot. It was late afternoon (and I was using my iPhone), so my exposure is a bit off, but it was nice to be outdoors for a change.
Out of all the blocks so far, I really struggled with these Nosegay blocks. Despite perfectly fine instructions, the cone portions of the block are just pulling everything out of place. I’m hoping that since the edges in those corners are bias edges that I’ll be able to ease them back into place once they’re sewn together with other blocks. I think there’s a subliminal reason as to why I keep typing “Noosegay” instead of “Nosegay” …
I was so happy to see Weather-vane Blocks, or “Posey Stars” as Joanna calls them, this month! I’ve been mentally playing around with a motif using these blocks in my head for a few months now, and I just might have finally been inspired to put something on paper finally!
And finally, here’s my Pineapple & Fig block. My seam allowance was a bit off on this block, so I’m really going to have to watch myself when it comes time to make more of these in future months. Such a fun and easy block to put together though! Well, I’m off to finish some sketching, and maybe to getting some progress made my Mario block for February. The block pattern will be posted over the weekend, just to keep you entertained on Sunday, should football not be your thing. Happy Friday and have a great weekend!
