Greetings and welcome to the second week of our Samhain mini-quilt-along! Over the next few weeks, we’ll be putting together this cute little mini quilt, with a parade of finishes just in time for Halloween.
It’s not too late to join us! You’ll just need a copy of the pattern to follow along.
This week’s homework assignment is simply to complete the appliquéd moon (steps 1-2 in your pattern). Since everyone has their favorite appliqué method, I’m just suggesting that you use the method that you are most comfortable with.
Do take the time to line up your circle in the center of your square!
Because I know that appliqué might be a new or intimidating technique for some of you, I put together this youtube tutorial demo-ing my very favorite appliqué method. It will walk you through assembling the moon block from start to finish!
If this is a new technique for you, be sure to practice a bit with scrap fabric before starting on your actual block.

I’ve mentioned a few of these helpful supplies in the youtube video:

That does it for this week’s assignment! We’ll be back next Friday to chat about bat wings and half-rectangle-triangle blocks!
Be sure to share your progress pics on Instagram, using #SamhainQAL and #CorasQuilts so we can find you, and connect with other quilters working on CQ projects in our facebook QAL group. See you soon!
