Greetings and welcome to the final of our Samhain mini-quilt-along! It’s not too late to make your own! You’ll just need a copy of the pattern to follow along.
This week’s homework assignment is to quilt and bind your mini quilt! If you’re new to either of these things, we have some great resources for you on our tutorials page!
Because this little quilt has so many different elements happening in such a small space, you really can get away with minimal quilting. “Stitch-in-the-ditch” or echo quilting around some of the pieces will do the job of tacking the quilt top to the backing, while still letting all your piecing and applique shine!
I think I’m personally leaning towards doing some echo quilting around the center moon, coupled with a larger grid in a neutral or clear thread. I had initially intended on just making the 22″ version myself but ended up liking it so much that I’m planning on making three more blocks once I’m home from quilt market …
That does it for our mini quilt along! I hope you’ve enjoyed working through this short-and-sweet project together!
Be sure to share your progress pics on Instagram, using #SamhainQAL and #CorasQuilts so we can find you, and connect with other quilters working on CQ projects in our facebook QAL group. See you soon!
