Greetings Sweater Weather-ers and welcome to week six of our Sweater Weather Quilt Along! If you’ve missed any of the other posts in this series, you can find over on our Quilt Along Home Page – scroll to the bottom to see the links!
Before we get started with the sewing … a few of you have emailed me, worried that you’ve fallen behind … so we’ve built in a little bit of extra time into the QAL, as follows:
- This week, we’re only working on one block each week, so feel free to use any extra sewing time to catch up on previous blocks.
- I am declaring next week (week 7 – 2/22/19) as an official catch-up week! A lot of us will have kids off of school for the week and/or are traveling to Quilt Con … so it’s a good time to take a little breather.
That being said … remember there is no deadline to finish this project – so if you’re sewing at a different speed than everyone else, there’s nothing to worry about!! The tips and tricks posts will stay here on our blog, so that you can always go back and reference them.
Week 06 Agenda:
- Steps 5-11
- Block 18
This week, we’re making our most complex block to date. This week’s block goes together in a log-cabin-block-like fashion, where we’re making rounds and rounds
Some Tips for the week …
- Sew carefully and precisely … and press carefully – you’ll be setting your future self up for success as we start putting these smaller building blocks together into larger building blocks!
- Make sure you’re using that 1/4″ seam! Full assemble one block to start with. It should be 6.5″ x 6.5″ unfinished. If it’s not, go through some of the trouble-shooting steps we’ve outlined so far in our QAL to fix the problem before making the rest of your blocks.
Happy sewing and see you in a couple of weeks!
